Amu is a moving and insightful film about a yong Indian-American woman (played by Konkona Sen of M/M Iyer) who goes to India in search of her identity (both sprititual and biological) and discovers secrets and lies within her family's past which revolve around the 1984 Sikh riots. Her emotional journey amply illustrates how the personal is connected to the political and makes for an engrossing tale. Screened at the recent Berlin and Toronto festivals, Amu won several awards (among them the prestigious FIPRESI CriticsAward).
